Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness Petition Form

PETITION

I steadfastly believe that men and women are made in the image of God and their value is derived directly from this fact, not from the ‘consent’ or ‘mutual agreement’ or ‘legal declaration’ of humans themselves.

Is it not written in one of our founding documents?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

I concur, and further maintain that these rights include, as an obvious prerequisite, the right to live. Yet there are many people who believe otherwise.

These people believe that humans themselves have the right to decide when a person is a person, and when he is not, and they act accordingly.  History has shown vividly that whenever this philosophy has been tried, tyranny and bloodshed have followed on a massive scale.  People are trying out these philosophies still, and again, in the vain hope that the consequences will be different… they believe there is a way to do it without descending into the horrors witnessed in the 20th century.  Wherever one looks, one finds that the same philosophies of yesteryear drive many of the policy initiatives or legislative proposals that are openly, or covertly, advocated.

I do not share their hope, and view their attempt as madness. There are many reasons to believe we are already well down the path towards tyranny, if not on its doorstop:  bloodshed is already with us in the form of abortion on demand, ‘after birth’ abortion, euthanasia, etc., …  and our right to ‘Liberty’ and the ‘pursuit of Happiness’ is severely curtailed wherever we look.  They will give the living the right to life, but they insist on managing it practically to death.

Therefore, I call upon you to carefully consider the motivations and philosophies behind proposed legislation.  Do not take the proposal apart from the rationale offered for it, as if the one has nothing to do with the other.  Furthermore, examine, if you will, the philosophies that support existing policies, programs, agencies, and departments.

If you discern that any of these are not compatible with the principles our republic was established on, I plead with you to resist the proposals with your whole being, and likewise seek to repeal and overturn policies, laws, and institutions that have already been implemented.

I beg you not to rest, for only a culture of death can grow when Man has taken upon himself the place of the Creator.    History tells the tale, and history is repeating itself before our eyes.
